I first saw this book on [...] where I published my book. Chad Moutray is also from Illinois . . . from a town just 40 miles southeast of mine. And like Chad, I lost someone close to me to breast cancer, at the tender age of 37. My friend Kathy left behind a 13 year old daughter, a 10 year old son, her husband, many close relatives, and dear friends like me. She had fought breast cancer and won once, but after almost five years of remission the cancer came back, this time with a vengeance. While on vacation, a bone poked up on her foot, indicating that the cancer had reappeared in her bones. She was gone within a too-short year. Because Kathy lived in Tampa, Florida, and I in Illinois, I was not able to spend much time with her.The kids, old enough to know their mother was very sick, denied that she was going to die. They believed until the very end that their mother would somehow live, that God would not take their mother away. And then the email from Jessie, Kathy's daughter, saying that an angel had gone to heaven that day. I cried so hard for Kathy, her kids, and her husband, that I could barely see to drive to work. A life taken too early, a lesson to me to value every day and be grateful for the little things like being able to go to work.
Reading this book has helped me in so many ways . . . to understand what Kathy must have gone through, like Laura, and how hard it must have been for her husband Jim to watch her grow sicker by the day.
Chad is an excellent writer, sharing his life with Laura with anyone interested in their story. His motivation is to chronicle and celebrate Laura's life so that Charlotte will have a memory of her mother.
This is a story which occurs all too frequently, but is seldom told. Anyone whose life has been touched by cancer can benefit from this beautiful book.

Chad's reflection on his life with Laura was one of the most touching, personal books I've ever read. From the beginning when they fell in love, to the birth of Charlotte, to the cancer diagnosis, and throughout the illness, I felt like I was living the story with them. Laura's faith in God and trust in His love throughout everything was remarkable and such an inspiration.
This book is deeply moving and inspiring. It is a window into who Laura was as an adult...a woman of dignity with a rooted faith in God and a deep love for her family. The author of this book wrote from his heart...it is honest and touching. This book is very honoring to Laura's life.
This is a great book, I could not put it down. This is not the genre I usually read, but a friend recommended it. The perspective on loss and appreciating whats important in life is irresistible.
